Kelly-Anne Cairns is an artist, freelance arts tutor and works part-time as a Creative Project Coordinator. She is based in Aberdeen, Scotland.
She graduated with an BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Gray’s School of Art in 1999. Since graduating her artistic career has been consistently successful – her artwork has been included in the BP Portrait Award and exhibitions across Scotland, London, New York and Amsterdam. Recently she has been shortlisted for The Scottish Portrait Awards.
Her paintings are technically traditional oil paintings with a calm, contemporary often oriental feel. The figures in her artworks appear deep in their own thoughts, oblivious of the viewer.
Her realistic representation of the body and the soft contours are contrasted with blocks of beautiful patterns and a lush colour palette.
‘The human form is my main inspiration: I love to recreate subtle skin tones in oil paint and manipulate the models pose to create an atmosphere, provoking emotions with colour and elusive narratives within the composition.’
Kelly-Anne’s work is available through a range of galleries or by contacting her direct. She undertakes private commissions and portrait commissions and offers private and group tuition.
